James Barry Cross, Jr.

James Barry Cross Jr. of Waukesha, died on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 86. He was born in Wilmet, IL the son of Theresa and James Barry Cross Sr. On March 20, 1954, he married his beloved wife Sylvia Svanoe; she preceded him in death on October 25, 2011. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and after a couple years of traveling while he was on active duty, they settled in California where they lived from 1956 until 1997. They then moved to Waukesha in 1997. Jim was an avid chess player and he won the U.S. Junior Chess Championship in 1950 held in Milwaukee.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter, author Carolyn Cross Ward, and her husband Ed Ward of Westlake Village, CA along with other relatives and friends.

Honoring Jim’s wishes, no services will be held.
