Homer Stair

Homer F. Stair, age 91, of Waukesha, died on Tuesday January 18, 2011. Homer was born in the Town of Genesee on June 2, 1919 to George and Josephine (nee Jacobson) Stair. Homer had twelve brothers and sisters. The family then moved to a farm on Hwy’s I & 83 in Mukwonago. Homer attended the one room school house that is still at that intersection. There he met Ruth Michaelis who was to become his first wife until her death in the 1970s. Homer was drafted into the Army toward the end of WWII and was stationed overseas. He was a member of the Waukesha EAGLES Aerie 453 FOE for many years. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, and a life member of the American Legion D.J. Martin Post #8. Homer was employed by Golden Guernsey for many years. He also drove truck for Hopson Oil, Dixon Oil, and the U.S. mail. He retired as an employee of the City of Waukesha. After retirement he moved to his cottage on Lake Redstone near Reedsburg, where he and his second wife, Margaret (nee McLellan) always hosted many family and friends for fishing, water skiing, snowmobiling and hunting. Homer and Margaret moved back to Waukesha several years ago to be closer to family and friends. Homer enjoyed the special time that he spent with his sisters Pearl Slater and Hazel Bethke, and his nephew LeRoy Stair. Homer is survived by his wife Margaret, his sons Kenneth (Ceal), and Mark (Jackie), his sisters Pearl Slater and Hazel Bethke, grandchildren Todd (Peggy) , Dan (Rhonda) , Kim (Troy), Kiley, Travis (Stefanie), Erin, many great grandchildren, and other friends and relatives. Besides his parents, Homer was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, his first wife Ruth (nee Michaelis) and grandson Terry. Visitation will be held at Randle-Dable Funeral Home 1110 S. Grand Avenue Waukesha Tuesday January 25, 2011 from 4:00 PM until the 7:00 PM memorial service. Graveside services and Military Honors by American Legion Post #8 will be at 9:00 AM Wednesday January 26, 2011at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin. Please meet at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Legion D.J. Martin Post #8 P.O.
