Geraldine (Mellenthin) Cottone of Waukesha died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Waukesha Springs Nursing Home at the age of 89, following a short illness.
Geri was a longtime resident of Avalon Square.
She was born on May 27, 1924 in Waukesha, the daughter of Edwin and Mabel Mellenthin. Geri graduated from Waukesha High School in 1942. She married Walter (Bud) Olson in 1956; he preceded her in death in 1963. Geri later married Sam Cottone.
She retired from Grede Foundry after 39 years. She extended her career at Holsum Foods for 11 years.
Geri is survived by her brother, Jack Mellenthin of Presque Isle, Wisc., and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Cottone.
Geri had a great sense of humor, a remarkable memory and was a generous sister, aunt and friend to many. The family thanks the many kind people who loved and supported Geri over the years.
The family will have a private service in celebration of Geri’s life.
