Douglas Schwartz

of Waukesha, died June 18, 2009 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 83.  He was born on November 20, 1925 in Milwaukee, the only child of Otto and Ella (Ringe) Schwartz.  He proudly served his country from 1943-1945 in the U.S. Marine Corps in Okinawa and Saipan.  On January 11, 1946 he married Bernice Bartz at St. Mary Help of Christians in West Allis.  Doug had been a firefighter for the West Allis Fire Department for 30 years, retiring in 1981 as Equipment Operator.  He served as Commander of H.A. Todd American Legion Post 537 and was a member of Soat-Vergenz VFW Post 721, Waukesha County Marine Corps League and St. John Neumann Catholic Church.  He will be sadly missed by his daughter Lori (Steven) Krafcheck of Oconomowoc and grandchildren Ryan Michael of Pewaukee and Kevin Joseph (fiancée Nicole Adams) of Oconomowoc. Brother-in-law Louis (Kathleen) Bartz III, niece Michelle (Gerald) Pfieffer, and nephew Louis ?Jet? (Brandy) Bartz IV.  He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice on June 13, 2003, grandson J.R. Krafcheck and his parents.  Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI.  Services continue at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 23 with prayers beginning at 9:45 am followed by the procession to St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 W. State Hwy 59, Waukesha for the 10:30 am Funeral Mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Virginia Health and Rehab.
