Dorothy Spencer

July 3, 1919 — November 20, 2010

Dorothy Boyd Spencer of Oconomowoc, formerly of Waukesha, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Angels Grace Hospice at the age of 91.  She was born on July 3, 1919 in Genesee, WI, the daughter of Myron and Gertrude (nee Hughes) Boyd.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Spencer, who passed away on January 5, 1997.  Dorothy graduated from Waukesha High School in 1937 and the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater (formerly Whitewater State Teachers College) in 1941.  She worked as a teacher for 2 years at Cobb High School in Cobb, WI, and later worked at Falk Corporation in Milwaukee for 5 years and was the editor of the Falk Reflector.  Throughout the years, Dorothy enjoyed her Bridge Club and lake living.  She will be fondly remembered as an “awesome” grandmother.  Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Bobbie (Augie) Jurishica of Oconomowoc; her son, Jack Boyd Spencer of Oconomowoc; two grandchildren:  Sarah Ann Jurishica of Oconomowoc and Carley Jane Jurishica of Chicago; sister-in-law, Kathryn Spencer Owens of Waukesha; and two nephews:  Bill (Ann) Owens and John Owens.   According to Dorothy’s wishes, private graveside services will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha, where she will be interred next to her husband, Bob.  Memorial donations in Dorothy’s name may be made to Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, P.O. Box 636, Port Washington, WI 53074 or to Waukesha County Historical Society, 101 W.
