Donna Schmitz

Donna Mae Schmitz (Pomeranski) of New Berlin, died on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc at the age of 75.  She was born in Superior, WI on February 20, 1936. She married Cyril W. Schmitz of Menomonee Falls on October 29, 1955.  They resided in Waukesha where she made wedding cakes and special occasion cakes and was referred by many as the “Cake Lady”.  She also enjoyed painting ceramics.  Together with her husband they raised ten children.  She will be sadly missed by her children: Joseph (Cheryl) Schmitz, Mary Schmitz, Susan (Mark) Smokowicz, Nancy (Jerry) Hanson, Anita Pirc, Jean (Dan) Schulthess, John Schmitz, Michael Schmitz, Paul (Nicole) Schmitz and Steven Schmitz.  She was the fond grandmother of 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and one expected in January.  She was the beloved sister to Connie (Fran) Rheinhart; Bonnie (Bob) Bacholls and sister–in-law to Muriel Larson.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband Cyril, her parents Edward and Sylvia Pomeranski, and her brother Ronnie.   Visitation will be held on Friday, September 30, 2011 from 4:00 until 7:00PM with a rosary service at 7:00PM at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI.  Services continue on Saturday, October 1, 2011 with prayers at the funeral home beginning at 10:15AM followed by a procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave. Waukesha, WI 53186 for the 11:00AM funeral Mass.  Entombment will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church (address above) or to AngelsGrace Hospice, W359 N7430 Brown Street, Oconomowoc, WI 53066.
