Officer Donald "Don" E. Bishop

March 7, 1981 — April 13, 2013

Donald “Don” E. Bishop, of Waukesha died on Saturday, April 13, 2013 doing what he loved, working as a Town of Brookfield Police Officer at the age of 32 years. He was born in Waukesha on March 7, 1981 the beloved son of Ronald and Barbara (nee Mueller) Bishop. He was a graduate of Mukwonago High School and attended Waukesha County Technical College where he received his training in law enforcement, firefighting and as an Emergency Medical Technician. Don touched many lives in his career in emergency services working as a volunteer firefighter/EMT, a dispatcher and as an expert in radio communications for public safety agencies. He started his career as a dispatcher with the Waukesha County Communications Center and the City of Oconomowoc Communication Center. He went on to work with the Village of Eagle Police Department, Village of Mukwonago Police Department and the Village of North Prairie Fire Department. Most of all, Don wanted to be a full-time police officer, a dream he achieved in August 2011 when he was hired by the town of Brookfield, an accomplishment he was so proud of. He had a fantastic sense of humor and would give up everything to go help somebody. Don was a devoted and loving son who enjoyed working on cars with his dad and cooking in the kitchen with his mom. Officer Bishop loved his job and will always be remembered as a dedicated police officer and public safety professional who served the Waukesha County community for more than 10 years.

He will be forever missed by his loving parents, Ronald and Barbara Bishop of Dousman, his future bride and the love of his life Tiffany Cole, his uncle Gordon (Judy) Heilert, and his aunts Debbie Heilert and Edie Mueller, and his future brothers-in-law Travis (Alicia) Buske, Patrick (Meghann) Schultz and Cory (Adeline) Schultz. He was the cherished Uncle Po-po to Kaydence Buske and Clayton Schultz. He is further survived by his best friends James and Leslie Westover along with other relatives, numerous friends and his many brothers and sisters within the police and fire departments he served. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Gertrude and Edward Bishop and Donald and Catherine Mueller and his uncle Paul Mueller.
