David H. Kowalke, 62, of Big Bend, Wisconsin formerly of Rock Springs, Wisconsin died November 11, 2006 at his home. He was born August 29, 1944 in Baraboo, Wisconsin the son of Harold P. and Elatha C. (nee: Kreuger) Kowalke. He was baptized in St. John Lutheran Church of Rock Springs and graduated from Reedsburg Webb High School in 1962. On June 10, 1967 he married the former Carol Ann Parrish of Rock Springs. He attended 4 years of school at Madison Technical College where he majored in diesel and automotive technology. He worked for Coca Cola and Bordens in Madison as a mechanic. In 1970 he went to work for United Parcel Service (UPS) in Baraboo as a diesel Mechanic. He was also involved in helping his father on the family?s Rock Springs farm. In 1984 after his father passed away and the farm was sold he transferred into management at UPS and relocated to Milwaukee where he worked as an automotive supervisor. In 1989 he transfered within UPS to become Trailer Shop Manager and relocated to Chicago. In 1994 he transferred for the last time back to Elm Grove, Wisconsin as the Extended Area Automotive Manager for UPS Wisconsin District. Fulfilling his desire to be closer to his family he remained with UPS in Elm Grove until his retirement in 1999 at age 55, after 29 years of service. He enjoyed retirement working in his wood working shop and camping with his wife Carol. He is survived by his loving wife Carol (nee: Parrish) of Big Bend, daughter Cynthia (Jeffrey) Henkel of Pewaukee, sons: James (Linda) Kowalke of Rubicon, Wisconsin, and Mark (Tonya) Kowalke of New Ulm, Minnesota, his mother Elatha C (nee: Kreuger) Kowalke of Baraboo, sister Patricia (Vern) Kingery of Baraboo, brother Bruce (Shirley) Kowalke of Worchester, Massachusetts, and grandchildren Samantha, Brandon, Eddie, Joey and Pearl Kowalke all of New Ulm, Minnesota, and Emma Rose Henkel of Pewaukee. He was further blessed with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be Tuesday November 14, 2006 from 4:00 PM until the 7:00 PM Funeral Service at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church 1052 Whiterock Avenue Waukesha, with Rev. Lawrence Gates presiding. Services continue on Wednesday November 15, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Church 624 East Street Baraboo, Wisconsin with visitation from 10:00 AM until the 1:00 PM Funeral Service.
