Commander G. Farner Usnr, Retired

Commander Conrad G. Farner USNR, Retired, of Waukesha, died on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at LindenGrove Health Care Center in New Berlin at the age of 93 years. He was born in Milwaukee on May 1, 1915 the son of Ernst and Anna Frances (nee Martin) Farner. During his youth he was active in the Land-O-Lakes baseball league. On June 14, 1941 he married his beloved wife Margaret (nee Byrne). He was a graduate of Carroll College, received his law degree from Marquette University, and also received a master's degree in education. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served in WWII, Korea and then 28 years in the Navy Reserves. He received his commission from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He taught at Roosevelt School for 7 years, and Steuben Middle School for 21 years. He also was a substitute teacher for the Waukesha School District well into his 80's. Conrad was a member of the VFW New Berlin Hoeppner Horn #5716, the American Legion Post #449 in Elm Grove, and in the Waukesha Elks Lodge #400 since 1980. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Margaret "Marge" of Waukesha, his children: Conrad G. (Michaele) Farner of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Marjorie Ann (Jerome) Wegner of Elm Grove, Robert E. (Mary Ann) Farner of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Barbara Jean (Stephen) Laedtke of Waupaca, 15 grandchildren, 26 great children, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. An Elks Lodge of Sorrow will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation continues on Friday, May 16, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha from 9:00AM until the Funeral Mass at 10:00AM with Rev. Bill Key presiding. Entombment will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with full military honors.
