Charles Tanis,

April 15, 1927 — September 16, 2010

Charles Tanis, Jr. of Waukesha, died September 16, 2010 at his daughter’s home in the town of Genesee at the age of 83.  He was born on April 15, 1927 in Homewood, Illinois, one of seven children born to Charles and Jesse (nee:  Wilson) Tanis, Sr. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, on the submarine the USS Pogy, during World War II.  On October 5, 1946 he married the former Lois Scott in Homewood, IL. He spent his early career, following in his father’s footsteps as a golf professional and member of the PGA.  Chuck then became a co-founder of  Tanis Inc.  He was a member of St. Marks Ev. Lutheran Church.  He will be sadly missed by his wife Lois of Waukesha along with their children Barbara Tanis of Waukesha, Susan L. (Bill Holdorf, Jr.) Tanis of Waukesha, Scott (Jane Lumby) Tanis of East Troy and Beth (Bill) Tanis-Durkin.  Dear grandfather of Angela, Anastasia, the late Justin, Haley, Rachel and Liza and great grandfather of Gus and Zave.  He is further survived by his sister Norma Tanis Duncan of Columbus, Ohio, brother Richard (Roxane) Tanis of Matteson, IL, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his sisters Betty, Mary and Gloria and brother Tom.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 21 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha.  A second visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 22 from 12:00 pm until the 1:00 pm Funeral Service at St. Marks Ev. Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave. Waukesha.  Military honors will follow the service at church.  Interment will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2211 N. Oak Park Avenue Chicago, IL  60707.
