Charles Cook, Sr. "Bill Cook"

Charles W. Cook, Sr., “Bill Cook”, longtime Waukesha resident, died on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the age of 83. He was born on May 19, 1927 in Menominee, Michigan, the son of William C. “Carpy” and Clara (Selvik) Cook. As a child, Bill enjoyed scouting for many years, eventually achieving Eagle Scout. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946. He later received a bachelor’s degree from Carroll College and a master’s degree from Syracuse University. He first worked as a high school guidance counselor for Appleton High School and was then Dean of Men at Carroll College for 9 years. Bill then worked as a guidance counselor at North High School in Waukesha for 10 years.   He was a worldwide extensive traveler and as an adventurous outdoorsman he enjoyed camping, sailing, skiing, swimming, and canoeing, which he enjoyed sharing with his family. He loved attending theater, symphonies and operas. Bill was a past member of the Golden Kiwanis in Waukesha and a longtime member of Southminster Presbyterian Church. He will be sadly missed by his children: Cathy Cook of Baltimore, MD, Charles (Sue Fiegel) Cook, Jr., of Waukesha and Cameron (Jeannette Vasquez Vivar) Cook of Wauwatosa along with his three grandchildren: Ian and Ryan Cook and Brian Cook. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Lila, his son Willie and his parents. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI from 1:00 until the 3:00PM funeral service at the funeral home. Pastor Joe Ripley will preside. Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Menominee, Michigan. If desired, memorials are appreciated to the Waukesha Civic Theater, 264 W.
