Betty Jane "Bj" Hammersley

Betty Jane “BJ” Hammersley, of Waukesha, formerly of Iron Mountain, MI, died on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 91 years. She was born in Elkhart, IN on March 27, 1921 the daughter of Olson and Thelma (nee Roberts) Walters. Betty was a past member of Sweet Adeline for many years. She was an avid bridge player and loved bird watching. She was a member of Christ the Life Ev. Lutheran Church in Waukesha.

She will be sadly missed by her sons, Richard “Dick” (Sandra) Hammersley of Waukesha and Robert (Cheryl) Hammersley of Oak Park, IL, her grandchildren: Tina (James) Ludlow, John Hammersley, Brian (Christen) Hammersley and Debbie (Gary) Cohen and her great-grandchildren: Brian, Alec and Kimberly Hammersley, Margaret and Elizabeth Ludlow, Amelia and Jaelyn Hammersley and Samantha and Maxwell Cohen. She is further survived by her sister Barbara Walters of Michigan, her sister-in-law Ruth (Harvey) Berry along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward John in 1988 and by her brother Robert.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 2:00 until the 4:00PM funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha. Reverend Eric J. Edwards will preside. Burial will be held at Quinnesec Cemetery in Iron Mountain, MI. If desired, memorials are appreciated to Christ the Life Ev.
