July 11, 1928 — August 12, 2016

Arthur R. Sweet of Waukesha passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Virginia Health and Rehab at the age of 88. He was born in Stanley, WI on July 11, 1928 the son of Hallard and Ida (nee Oleson) Sweet. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Arthur was also a member of the Waukesha Elks Lodge #400 in Waukesha. He worked for Alloy Products, retiring after many years of service. Arthur loved traveling, going to the casino, playing cards and his guitar, watching old westerns, listening to his two favorite songs, “The Long Black Train” by Josh Turner and “My Old Friend” by Tim McGraw and being with his family and friends. Art was known for sitting in his yard waving to the traffic and getting a blow of the horn in return for his wave. He was an avid football fan and especially enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers. He will always be remembered as a wonderful man with a huge compassionate heart.

He is survived by his son Jeff, his brother Norm (Diana) Sweet, his grandchildren and his longtime close friends from the Novotny and Wolf families. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Christine, his daughter Sharon Plehn, his son Dale Sweet, his brother Jerry Sweet and his parents.
