Armando Garcia

Armando C. Garcia, of Waukesha, died on Sunday, July 5, 2009 surrounded by his family at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 81.  He was born in Gonzales, Texas on May 23, 1928 the son of Albert and Frances (nee Cantu) Garcia.  Armando served in the U.S. Air Force and on September 17, 1949 he married Ysidra Mindiola at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waukesha.  For many years Armando worked at Waukesha County Technical College as the campus manager.  He also worked at Quality Aluminum, and owned the Garcia-Enco gas stations located on Barstow Street and North Avenue in Waukesha and on Hwy SS in Pewaukee.  He was also the owner of Penny Wise Car Wash on Barstow.  Armando was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, was a board member at La Casa de Esperanza, was chairman of the Equal Opportunity Commission in Waukesha and also on the state board for the commission and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1949.  Armando will be deeply missed by his wife Ysidra of Waukesha, his children: Mona Garcia, John (Lynn) Garcia, Amanda (John) Couden, Amelie (Mark) Hillmer all of Waukesha, and Vivian (Ken) Lapp of Mukwonago, his grandchildren: Christopher (Michelle) Garcia of Sussex, Shelby (Rick) Romero of Waukesha, Ryan (Shauna) Heflin of New Jersey, Joshua (Carmen) Couden, Edward Heflin, Justin Garcia, Elizabeth Couden, Jeremy Garcia, and Holley (Lupe) Godina all of Waukesha, his great-grandchildren: Logan, Karley, Madeline, Ashley, Nicholas, Emily, Michael, Alexis, Kylie, Hunter and Mariah.  He is further survived by his brothers: Adolf (Adele) Garcia of Waukesha and Augustine (Bev) Garcia of Milwaukee, sister-in-law Connie Garcia of Waukesha, his best friend George Sweezey, and his dog Louie, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends in Wisconsin and Texas.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00PM at the Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI.  A rosary service will be held at 8:00PM.  Services will continue at 9:00AM on Friday, July 10, 2009 with prayers at the funeral home followed by a procession to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186 for the 10:00AM Funeral Mass.  Rev. Bill Key will preside.  Entombment with full military honors will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
